(Bernie Rhodes knows. Don't argue!)

from The Specials – Gangsters Lyrics on Rap Genius

Meaning

The Specials adapted this song from the Prince Buster ska standard Al Capone. The intro to the aforementioned song was

Al Capone’s guns don’t argue!

Bernie Rhodes was the ex-manager of The Specials, as well as manager of The Clash. A shady businessman at best, bassist Horace Panter paints a mean picture of his dealings in his autobiography.

Rhodes continues to court controversy wherever he goes. In 2007 he suggested “sorting out the niggers in Peckham” as a solution to reducing London crime rates, and in 2010 he turned up unannounced to fashion designer Malcolm McLaren’s funeral and proceeded to repeatedly heckle and berate fellow funeralgoer Vivienne Westwood.
