I stand here waiting for you to bang the gong
To crash the critic saying, "is it right or is it wrong?"
From the get-go, the addressee of this song are Lady Gaga’s Little Monsters. They’re the ones who can drown out the moral guardians and the haters that constantly argue over and condemn her music and life.
By banging the gong, her detractor’s voices are drowned out. And she doesn’t have to lift a finger for that to happen. This could be a reference to The Gong Show, where people show off their crazy talents and the judges, if they think it’s bad or just wrong, bang a gong and the contestant is off the show.
On a side note, doesn’t Gaga sound exactly like the girl from The B-52’s?
