And the seal goes "ow ow ow"
Seal hunting is a major industry in Norway, where traditionally seals were killed using a hakapik, a wooden club with a hammer head and metal hook. The hakapik is the origin of the popular (and correct) notion of seals being “clubbed to death.”
Present-day regulations require that adult seals be hunted with a rifle whereas a hakapik may only be used to hunt young seals. The hakapik is now primarily used to ensure, by crushing its skull, that a shot animal is dead before it is skinned.
Ow ow ow indeed.
