At the same time as the girls enter Lorde brings her boys in –(Lorde sees herself as “one of the boys”). Often boys appear to have much worse skin than girls, as girls can cover their acne with makeup. This is why the boys have whole craters in their skin.
Could be a reference to Artemis, the huntress, and darker plainer twin of the golden Apollo. She is the Greek goddess of the moon and a protagonist in numerous myths about pursuit by men with bad intentions. This reveals that the boys aren’t nearly good enough for the ladies in their finery.
