Now we're in the ring
And we're coming for blood
This follows the themes of Bravado & The Love Club, in a sense that Lorde may have been apprehensive at first, yet now she is 100% committed to her work. She is an upcoming artist that is not afraid to display her talent to the world.
“The ring” that Lorde sings about is a reference to two types of arenas:
First of all, it refers to a boxing ring, in which many modern fights occur and are broadcasted nationally. Just like these boxers, Lorde is not afraid to put up a fight.
This also refers to the Coliseum, the ancient Roman arena in which gladiator fights occurred.
Let the fight begin!
