She can take the shitty comments about her physical appearance, but she cannot stand those about her music and her art. She does not care if they make fun of the way her body is shaped or of her eccentric outfits, but she does care if they apply those same superficial comments to her music and to her art, because that could be hurtful; so she “offers” her body as a target.
On the same vein, she is afraid to love anyone including her fans for the fear that they will one day stop loving her as much as she loves them. She wants to continue making people happy and creating. This is what she was born to do. Her relationship with her fans has kept her going, making her and them happy.
Essentially, Gaga mentions this to show us her love-hate relationship with fame. Without it, she would be without contact with her fans. On the other hand, she despises money and the greed that it symbolizes. She understand fame kills but as she quoted as a note to Swine, “I would do anything for you, monsters.”
