The only real depiction of fame normal people get when younger is from behind a screen, which is an extremely romanticised portrait of stardom. Lorde slightly regrets becoming a star as she had no idea of the effects it would have her life and on how her friends treated her.
This is also a play on booking holidays. When going on holiday, your expectations are built entirely through pictures of your destination that pain a very idyllic impression.
Yet in actuality nothing is perfect. Just as the gaining of fame is the only ultimate goal, celebrity life is not all it is cut out to be.
