Amber Lyrics

[Intro]
Brainstorm, take me away from the norm
I got to tell you somethin'
This phenomenon, I had to put it in a song
And it goes like

[Chorus]
Whoa, amber is the color of your energy
Whoa, shades of gold displayed naturally

[Verse 1]
You wanna know what brings me here, oh
You glide through my head, blind to fear
And I know why

[Chorus]
Whoa, amber is the color of your energy
Whoa, shades of gold displayed naturally

[Instrumental Break]

[Chorus]
Whoa, amber is the color of your energy
Whoa, shades of gold displayed naturally

[Bridge]
You live too far away
Your voice rings like a bell anyway
Don't give up your independence
Unless it feels so right
Nothing good comes easily
Sometimes you've got to fight
[Chorus]
Whoa, amber is the color of your energy
Whoa, shades of gold displayed naturally

[Verse 2]
Launched a thousand ships in my heart, so easy
Still, it's fine from afar
And you know that

[Outro]
Whoa, brainstorm, take me away from the norm
Whoa, I got to tell you somethin'

About

Genius Annotation

Many people have speculated that “Amber” was written by 311 singer Nick Hexum in homage to his then-fiancée Nicole Scherzinger, who went on to form the girl group The Pussycat Dolls. In a 2015 interview with SongFacts, Hexum neither confirmed nor denied these speculations, but described the concept behind “Amber” as

…just a cool analogy, because I love soft lights and colors – like the color of a sunset. Blue light is harsh, and amber light doesn’t hurt your eyes, so to say the color of someone’s energy is amber is kind of a cool way to compliment [them]."

Stylistically, “Amber” is a relaxing, mid-tempo reggae-pop song with a memorable lead guitar hook, played by guitarist Tim Mahoney.
