The world is a vampire, sent to drain
Secret destroyers, hold you up to the flames
And what do I get, for my pain
Betrayed desires, and a piece of the game
Billy is mocking the human’s belief to blame “the world”, which is “bad” like a vampire and “drains” us, while in fact we are the ones destroying this earth. The “secret” destroyers are our sins, we try to not disavow. We are in pain because of our destructive behaviours and yet want to be rewarded for it.
“The World Is A Vampire” could also very well be a reference to Cain killing Abel in the Bible, and how the Bible says that the earth was cursed “drinking Abel’s blood” as Billy is reffering to the Bible here a lot.
