I repeated that my friends
Where all in jail, with a sigh
He gave me his card
He said, "Call me if they die"
Comically, the funeral director hands Dylan his card in the event that his friends die in jail. However, if the “funeral parlor” is actually a church, then the man is a priest, who is unwilling to help Dylan or his friends, even though he “advertises brotherhood.” The church only offers to perform a ritual (last rites) instead of helping.
