I boogied down gargoyle streets

from Dirty Projectors – Dance For You Lyrics on Rap Genius

This song has a loose/shambling quality reminiscent at times of The Glad Fact, David Longstreth’s 2003 album about being emotionally labile in New Haven, Connecticut. He could be referring to the “gargoyle streets” of Yale, or more generally to taking spirited jaunts down jolie laide stony blocks. The boogeying is supposed to be incongruent with the boogey men portrayed in the gargoyles. (What does that even mean?)
