Somewhere In Brooklyn Lyrics

[Chorus]
She was covered in leather and gold
Twenty-one years old
I lost her in the cold
It's unfair, she's out there
Somewhere, somewhere, somewhere in Brooklyn
She's somewhere, somewhere, somewhere in Brooklyn

[Verse 1]
Little Ms. Perfect
Sittin' at the train stop
Red Nike high tops
Listenin' to hip-hop
While we were waitin'
Started conversatin'
Before I got her name
Along came a train

[Pre-Chorus]
Ooh
Next stop Brooklyn
Ooh
Now I'm looking

[Chorus]
She was covered in leather and gold
Twenty-one years old
I lost her in the cold
It's unfair, she's out there
Somewhere, somewhere, somewhere in Brooklyn
She's somewhere, somewhere, somewhere in Brooklyn
[Verse 2]
On the street kickin' rocks
Circlin' the same block
Greenpoint to Flatbush
Checkin' every corner shop
Tappin' people's shoulders
Askin' if they know her
Every day’s the same
It's back to the train

[Pre-Chorus]
Ooh
Next stop Brooklyn
Ooh
I'm still lookin'

[Chorus]
She was covered in leather and gold
Twenty-one years old
I lost her in the cold
It's unfair, she's out there
Somewhere, somewhere, somewhere in Brooklyn
She's somewhere, somewhere, somewhere in Brooklyn

[Outro]
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, I wonder, will we ever meet again?
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Ooh, I wonder, will we ever meet again?
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Yeah, I wonder if we'll ever meet again
Oh, oh, oh, oh
I hope we do
Somewhere in Brooklyn

Genius Annotation

Originally included on Bruno’s debut studio EP release It’s Better If You Don’t Understand, Somewhere in Brooklyn is about Bruno meeting a girl while he was waiting for his train to arrive.

They then started to talk, and once he was starting to get really interested in her, the girl’s train arrives and she has to go, leaving Bruno with just a memory of her, knowing only she was Somewhere in Brooklyn; he then starts searching everywhere, looking for his ‘Brooklyn girl’, asking people if they saw or ever heard of her, sadly with no luck.

Later he comes back at the train station hoping to find her there, but unfortunately she is nowhere to be found.

Bruno revealed that he dedicated this song to his father during an interview with Rap-Up:

My dad is originally from Brooklyn, I think that everyone can agree that New York is a special place, so one song is called Somewhere in Brooklyn. The premise of that song is that she’s somewhere in Brooklyn and I’m gonna find her.
