With the first part being a slow piano medley, and vocal samples, and the second incorporating a faster tempo and rock instruments, Up with the Birds is the grand finale to Coldplay’s modern-day rock opera Mylo Xyloto, departing with a sad and happy tone. With grandiose emphasis, and underestimated vocals by Chris Martin, Up with the Birds ensures safety and protection to the people of Silencia, including Fly, as critics generally well-received the limited-edition single for being a perfect closer to the album.
Mylo dies after sustaining fatal injuries, as he knows that he has departed to Heaven, due to his faith in God, and the battle is over. The winner is the rebels and he is not there, as everyone mourns him, and he accepts new life. But he knows, from God, that good times will soon come, and everyone will be happy, and that when danger comes, everyone will fight back to ensure democracy and freedom.
