About
Genius Annotation
“Subterraneans” is like a cold, creepy classical piece reinvented through claustrophobic synthesizers and eerie choirs.
It was originally developed for use in the soundtrack of The Man Who Fell to Earth. Bowie’s (never completed) work on the soundtrack became the inspiration behind his experiments on Low and “Heroes”:
It did prompt me in another area – to consider my own instrumental capabilities, which I hadn’t really done very seriously before. The area was one that was suddenly exciting me … And that’s when I got the first inklings of trying to work with Eno.
