Genius Annotation

“Son of Sam” was the first single and opening track off of Elliott Smith’s 2000 album Figure 8. Though the song’s title implies that it is about the serial killer David Berkowitz, a serial killer who became known as “Son of Sam” after murdering six people, Smith himself stated in a contemporaneous interview that this was not the case.
