Reasons Not to Be an Idiot Lyrics

That's not the point anyway
Oh darling!
I felt compelled to call you up to say

[Chorus]
So why are you sat at home?
You're not designed to be alone
You've just got used to saying no
So get up, and get down and get outside
'Cos it's a lovely sunny day
But you hide yourself away
You've only got yourself to blame
Get up, and get down, and get outside

[Outro]
Get up and get down and get outside!
Get up and get down and get outside!
Get up and get down and get outside!
Get up and get down and get outside!
Get up and get down and get outside!

About

Genius Annotation

Frank Turner is not impressed with our insular culture. We spend way too much time alone and on screens, feeling sorry for ourselves! Meanwhile, you’ve got friends and the sun is shining. Why waste something like that?

The song talks about how each of us has insecurities and in each case those insecurities are based in flaws. But we’re all in this together and we’re all human, so there’s no need to worry about it.

The seven-inch single had a very whimsical design. It was limited to 300 copies, and on each of them, Frank hand-wrote a “reason not to be an idiot.”
