Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth) Lyrics

[Verse]
Give me love, give me love
Give me peace on earth
Give me light, give me life
Keep me free from birth
Give me hope, help me cope
With this heavy load
Trying to touch and reach you
with
Heart and soul

[Bridge]
Om...
My Lord
Please take hold of my hand
That I might understand you
Won't you please, oh, won't you?

[Verse]
Give me love, give me love
Give me peace on earth
Give me light, give me life
Keep me free from birth
Give me hope, help me cope
With this heavy load
Trying to, touch and reach you with
Heart and soul
[Bridge]
Om...
My Lord
Won't you please, oh, won't you?

[Verse]
Give me love, give me love
Give me peace on earth
Give me light, give me life
Keep me free from birth
Give me hope, help me cope
With this heavy load
Trying to, touch and reach you with
Heart and soul

Give me love, give me love
Give me peace on earth
Give me light, give me life
Keep me, keep me free from birth
Now give me hope and help me cope
With this heavy load
Trying to, touch and reach you with
Heart and soul

[Outro]
Om... My Lord...

Genius Annotation

“Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth) is the lead single from George Harrison’s 1973 album "Living in the Material World.”

In George’s 1980 autobiography “I, Me, Mine,” he talked about how he wrote the song, saying:

“Sometimes you open your mouth and you don’t know what you are going to say, and whatever comes out is the starting point. If that happens and you are lucky, it can usually be turned into a song. This song is a prayer and personal statement between me, the Lord, and whoever likes it.”

The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 for a week in June of 1973. It also peaked at #8 on the U.K. Singles chart.
