About

Genius Annotation

“Untitled #8” is part of the second half of Frusciante’s solo album, and despite the track being fully instrumental, it perfectly portrays John’s mind state at the time.

The nearly 8-minute long track features disordered and indistinct guitar riffs, along with various unclear voices in the background, representing the voices and chaos in Frusciante’s head. After leaving the Red Hot Chili Peppers for the first time, hard drugs like cocaine and heroin were a way of coping with depression for him. Most of this album was made while on drugs and Untitled #8 is no exception.
