Mr. Rogers Lyrics

[Intro]
The time has come to realize
What you are, what you've done inside
The time has come
All have something to talk about, I will too

[Verse 1]
Looking back (dumb)
And now I realize (old man)
How much you really liked him (dumb)
This child's mind you terrorized (old man)
You came to him (dumb)
He really didn't know your lies (old man)
Now his innocence's gone (dumb)
He's that child you terrorized (old man)

[Chorus]
This fucking thing that I feel
It came to me from you
This fucking thing that I
Because of you
My childhood is gone
Because I loved you
My childhood is gone
Because I loved you
Be my neighbor!

[Verse 2]
Looking back (child)
And now I realize (fucker)
How much you really loved him (child)
This child's mind you've hypnotized (fucker)
You came to him (child)
He really didn't know your lies (fucker)
Now his innocence's gone (child)
I'm that child you terrorized (fucker)

[Chorus]
This fucking thing that I feel
It came to me from you
This fucking thing that I feel
Because of you
My childhood is gone
Because I loved you
My childhood is gone
Because I loved you
Be my neighbor!
Be my neighbor!
My neighbor

[Verse 3]
Fred, you told me everybody was my neighbor
They took advantage of me
You let them take their turns hitting me
I wish I would have never watched you
You really made my childhood a failure
What a fucking neighbor
Fred, you told me everybody was my neighbor
They took advantage of me
You let them take their turns hitting me
I wish I would have never watched you
You really made my childhood a failure
What a fucking neighbor!
I hate you!
I will too
I hate you!
I will too
I hate you!
I will too
I hate you!
I hate you!
[Outro]
Be my neighbor!
Be my neighbor!
This fucking thing that I feel!
This fucking thing that I feel!
My childhood is gone!
My childhood is gone!
This fucking thing that I feel!
This fucking thing that I feel!
My childhood is gone!
My childhood is gone!
I will too
I will too
I will too
I will too
I will too
I will too
I will too
I will too
I will too
I will too

About

Genius Annotation

“Mr. Rogers” is the seventh track off of Korn’s second album, Life is Peachy.

The song deals with the loss of innocence with Jonathan Davis focusing it on the popular American children’s television program Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, which ran on PBS from 1968 to 2001.

Jonathan feels that the host, Fred Rogers, made him more naive and feels he was lied to about the state of the world while watching children’s programming, with Jonathan regretting watching due to the teaching that everyone is friendly when he was being abused during that time in his life.

“Mr. Rogers” was written under the influence of amphetamines.

Genius Answer

In 2015, Rock N Roll Experience asked Jonathan Davis if he hated Mr. Rogers. He replied:

Yeah, I hate Mr. Rogers. I don’t like Mr. Rogers at all. That song is about child TV, any children’s television programs …they are really kinda screwed up & I just picked on Mr. Rogers…there’s some sick stuff on there….like you’ve got Mr. McFeely, and some really sick shit but I’ve got a whole bunch o’ video tapes of Mr. Rogers and some of the shit they say & stuff is pretty fucking sick!
