Tom said at the time… “The guitar riff to this is a re-worked version of something I’d recorded when we were mixing ‘Sticking Fingers Into Sockets’. I tend to keep everything I record and listen back and rework stuff a lot, but really like how this one ended up. The guiro was an ‘Electrolite’ (REM) influence, and once I came up with some string arrangements, it became this lush, orchestral thing with a contrasting chorus that cresendos into chaos, which seemed to work really well. More chopped vocals to create the ethereal backing stuff, and Neil playing lead guitar through a Leslie speaker to give it that warbly, dreamy effect”
