About

Genius Annotation

Miranda and Blake wrote this son about Blake’s brother who was killed in a car accident at the age of 24. Blake was 14 at the time. It was in December, but the song references the fact that it is still hard to deal with his death no matter that it isn’t the anniversary or anything. His parent’s gave Blake all of his brother’s music and Blake would listen to the records over and over remembering his brother and feeling him there. I know you didn’t mean to give them to me is because it was an accident and it makes Blake mad that he’s gone, that he doesn’t get to see him any more. How dare you leave me? His Dad is referenced in an interview saying It isn’t something you ever get over, you just get used to it.
