White Liar Lyrics

[Chorus]
Hey, white liar
The truth comes out a little at a time
And it spreads just like a fire
Slips off of your tongue like turpentine
And I don't know why, white liar

[Verse 1]
You better be careful what you do
I wouldn't wanna be in your shoes
If they ever found you out
You better be careful what you say
It never really added up any way
I got friends in this town

[Chorus]
Hey, white liar
The truth comes out a little at a time
And it spreads just like a fire
Slips off of your tongue like turpentine
And I don't know why, white liar

[Verse 2]
You said you went out to a bar
And walked some lady to her car
But your face has more to tell
'Cause my cousin saw you on the street
With a red head named Bernice
Turns out you don't lie too well

[Chorus]
Hey, white liar
The truth comes out a little at a time
And it spreads just like a fire
Slips off of your tongue like turpentine
And I don't know why, white liar

[Bridge]
Here's a bombshell just for you
Turns out I've been lyin' too

[Chorus]
Now I'm a white liar
The truth comes out a little at a time
And it spreads just like a fire
Slips off of my tongue like turpentine
And I don't know why
White liar

What did Miranda Lambert say about "White Liar"?
Genius Answer

I wrote that song with my friend Natalie Hemby. We wrote four songs on the album together. I was listening to a lot of Buddy and Julie Miller. They have great music – somewhat bluegrass, but it’s pretty rockin', too. I think I was influenced by them that day. Natalie had the title, ‘White Liar,’ and we thought it was great. I started playing a little bit of a tune to it on the guitar, and we just started writing. It happened really fast. We wrote it in about 20 minutes. Cheating in a small town is what this song is all about.
