Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever) Lyrics

[Verse 1]
I was searching
You were on a mission
Then our hearts combined like
A neutron star collision

[Pre-Chorus]
I had nothing left to lose
You took your time to choose
Then we told each other
With no trace of fear that

[Chorus]
Our love would be forever
And if we die, we die together
Lie, I said never
'Cause our love would be forever

[Verse 2]
The world is broken
And halos fail to glisten

You try to make a difference, but
No one wants to listen

[Pre-Chorus]
Hail, the preachers, fake and proud
Their doctrines will becloud
Then they'll dissipate
Like snowflakes in an ocean

[Chorus]
Love is forever
And we'll die, we'll die together
Lie, I said never
'Cause our love could be forever

[Pre-Chorus]
Now I've got nothing left to lose
You take your time to choose
I can tell you now
Without a trace of fear

[Chorus]
That my love will be forever
And we'll die, we'll die together
Lie, I will never
'Cause our love will be forever

[Outro]
Ooh
Ooh

Genius Answer

It was a song looking right back on that moment that you first get with someone and everything feels like it’s going to go on forever. I broke up with my girlfriend – it must have been about eight months ago or something. I basically wrote that song pretty much immediately after that.
The Twilight people contacted us and were very keen to get a song for their film and I thought ‘Why not?’. I might as well just bung it in there and get it out there because this song represents a bit of a difficult period for me in my life. It’s the kind of song that by the time we get to the next album might not be relevant any more. My life might have changed and moved on. It’s kind of like a cheesy love sentiment I suppose. When I wrote the song, it was quite a heavy thing.
