Tangled in the Great Escape Lyrics

[Pre-Chorus: Vic Fuentes, Jason Butler]
They all accept the lie
So bury what you are outside
Brother, promise you won't leave me

[Chorus: Vic Fuentes]
I know you're tortured within
Your eyes look hungry again
But I'll never wander, my friend

[Bridge: Vic Fuentes, Jason Butler]
I let you down
And I started to run
Never meant to be your pain
What have I become?

Show me it, show me the way back
Show me the way back
Show me the way back home

[Chorus: Vic Fuentes, Jason Butler]
I know you're tortured within
Your eyes look hungry again
But I'll never wander, my friend
No, I'll never wander again

[Refrain: Vic Fuentes]
This is not what I want
But it’s now what I need
This is not what I want
But it’s now what I need
This is not what I want
But it’s now what I need
This is not what I want
But it’s now what I need

About

Genius Annotation

I wrote this about one of my best friends who got hooked on some pretty serious drugs. It got to the point where I was so scared that if he didn’t get cleaned up soon, I knew he was going to die. I felt so powerless because I am always on tour and there’s no real way for me to help someone like this from so far away. I flew out to Detroit to do some co-writing with my friend B-South (Brian Southall). We had done a lot of work together on our side project Isles & Glaciers, so I hit him up to see if he’d be down to make some more songs. By the time I got back to San Diego we had written 5 songs in 5 days, but this was the one that fit the album the best. I asked our friend Jason Butler from the band letlive. to sing on this song for two reasons. One being that I have a lot of respect and admiration towards him as a singer and as a person. Two being that he is straight edge, and I thought maybe he could relate to the lyrics and topic in some way. Special thanks to Jason for bringing this song to life.
