Just Give Me a Reason Lyrics

[Verse 1: P!nk]
Right from the start
You were a thief, you stole my heart
And I, your willing victim
I let you see the parts of me
That weren't all that pretty
And with every touch, you fixed them

[Pre-Chorus: P!nk]
Now you've been talking in your sleep
Oh, oh, things you never say to me
Oh, oh, tell me that you've had enough
Of our love, our love

[Chorus: P!nk]
Just give me a reason
Just a little bit's enough
Just a second, we're not broken, just bent
And we can learn to love again

It's in the stars
It's been written in the scars on our hearts
We're not broken, just bent
And we can learn to love again

[Verse 2: Nate Ruess, P!nk]
I'm sorry I don't understand
Where all of this is coming from
I thought that we were fine

(Oh, we had everything)
Your head is running wild again
My dear, we still have everything
And it's all in your mind

(Yeah, but this is happening)
[Pre-Chorus: Nate Ruess, P!nk & Nate Ruess, P!nk]
You've been having real bad dreams
Oh, oh, you used to lie so close to me
Oh, oh, there's nothing more than empty sheets
Between our love, our love

Oh, our love, our love, love

[Chorus: P!nk & Nate Ruess, Nate Ruess]
Just give me a reason
Just a little bit’s enough
Just a second, we’re not broken, just bent
And we can learn to love again
I’ve never stopped
You’re still written in the scars on my heart

You’re not broken, just bent
And we can learn to love again

[Bridge: P!nk, Nate Ruess]
Oh, tears ducts and rust
I'll fix it for us
We're collecting dust
But our love's enough

You're holding it in
You're pouring a drink
No, nothing is as bad as it seems
We'll come clean

What did P!nk say about "Just Give Me a Reason"?
Genius Answer

P!nk:

Nate wasn’t sure that he wanted to be on a collaboration with a pop star. Their label is an independent label, they weren’t sure. And I just kept telling them — well, I kind of tricked him into doing it, because we wrote the first verse the first day and basically the chorus, and then I went home and I was looking over the lyrics and thinking about the song, and it was never supposed to be a collaboration. We were just collaborating as writing partners. But I was like, “This song is a conversation between lovers.” And he had to do it because he’s my favorite voice right now, aside from probably Adele. I went back in and wrote the second verse and I sort of pitched the song.

Nate Ruess:

I went into it just obviously coming from a completely different world than where Pink is from,“ he recalled to MTV. "Writing the song was a whole different learning experience and was really fuelled by the fact that Alecia is so strong and independent and so very much herself. At the end of the day it’s so hard to argue against her because what she does it always so great.

How did P!nk feel when the song was a success at radio?
Genius Answer

It felt awesome, because I wrote that song, I fought for that song, I fought to have Nate do that song, I fought for the entire thing. And it took many, many months to make that song happen. And I just didn’t give up. When I fucking want something I go after it.
