Rid of Me Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Tie yourself to me
No one else
No, you're not rid of me

Mmm, you're not rid of me
Night and day
I breathe, hah-hah-ayy-ayy
You're not rid of me
Yeah, you're not rid of me
Yeah, you're not rid of me
Yeah, you're not rid of me

[Verse 2]
I beg you, my darling
Don't leave me, I'm hurting
Lick my legs, I'm on fire
Lick my legs of desire

I'll tie your legs
Keep you against my chest
Oh, you're not rid of me
Yeah, you're not rid of me
I'll make you lick my injuries
I'm gonna twist your head off, see

[Chorus]
Till you say don't you wish you never, never met her?
Don't you, don't you wish you never, never met her?
Don't you, don't you wish you never, never met her?
Don't you, don't you wish you never, never met her?
[Outro]
Lick my legs, I'm on fire
Lick my legs, I'm desire

Lick my legs, I'm on fire
Lick my legs, I'm desire

Genius Annotation

In an oral history of Harvey’s album Rid of Me with Spin, she said, “When I was at art college, all I wanted to do was shock with my artwork. When I wrote ‘Rid of Me,’ I shocked myself. I thought, ‘Well, if I’m shocked, other people might be shocked.’ The sound of the words was powerful, and the rhythm felt clean and simple to roll off the tongue. I knew that this was the type of song I was trying to write.”
