When The Sun Goes Down Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Been a long day
Waitin' for the night to come
I check my iPhone
Let me see what's goin' on, goin' on, goin' on
Help me, DJ (DJ, DJ)
Play my favorite song
Make the speakers shake, speakers shake
Now, everybody wants to sing along, sing along

[Pre-Chorus]
When the night is here
The only thing on my mind is havin' a good time
When the moon appears
You can always hear us say

[Chorus]
The party doesn't start 'til the sun goes down
That's when everything starts movin'
Everybody up when the sun goes down
Ah, ah, ah
The music isn't on 'til it's way too loud
That's when everyone starts dancin'
Everybody shout when the sun goes down

[Post-Chorus]
When the sun goes down
When the sun goes down
When the sun goes down
Oh, oh, oh, yeah
[Verse 2]
Pushing my hands up
I'm feeling good now
On the dance floor
We can turn it inside out, inside out

[Pre-Chorus]
When the night is here
The only thing on my mind
Is havin' a good time with my friends, that's real
You can always hear us say

[Chorus]
The party doesn't start 'til the sun goes down
That's when everything starts movin'
Everybody up when the sun goes down
Ah, ah, ah
The music isn't on 'til it's way too loud
That's when everyone starts dancin'
Everybody shout when the sun goes down

[Post-Chorus]
When the sun goes down
When the sun goes down
When the sun goes down
Oh, oh, oh, yeah
[Bridge]
Down, down, down
The sun is goin' down, down, down
When the moon appears
You can always here us say
When the stars come out
You can always here us say
Oh, oh, oh, yeah

[Chorus]
The party doesn't start 'til the sun goes down
That's when everything starts movin'
Everybody up when the sun goes down
Ah, ah, ah
The music isn't on 'til it's way too loud
That's when everyone starts dancin'
Everybody shout when the sun goes down

[Post-Chorus]
When the sun goes down (Hey!)
When the sun goes down (Ho!)
When the sun goes down (Hey!)
(When the sun goes down)
When the sun goes down (Hey!)
When the sun goes down (Ho!)
When the sun goes down (Hey!)
Oh, oh, oh, yeah

About

Genius Annotation

According to Songfacts, this is the title track of dance-pop act Selena Gomez & The Scene’s third album. Selena explained to Billboard magazine the record was named after it, “because it goes perfectly with describing the whole album and the album artwork.”
Joey Clement, who is the bassist of The Scene as well as a member of the American band Midwest Kings, gave the song to Selena.
Said the Wizards of Waverly Place star to Billboard magazine:

It’s really special to my bass player, Joey, who wrote it. And I got to rewrite the bridge of it as well. It felt like we got to do that as a band.

The song was produced by Stefan Abingdon of UK comedy group The Midnight Beast. They are most famous for their YouTube cover-parody of Kesha’s “TiK ToK,"which reached #4 on the Australian singles chart. This was the first song that Abingdon produced for another act.
