Seventeen Lyrics

[Verse 1: Johnny Rotten]
You're only 29
Got a lot to learn
But when your mummy dies
She will not return

[Verse 2: Johnny Rotten]
We like noise, it's our choice
It's what we wanna do
We don't care about long hair
I don't wear flares

[Verse 3: Johnny Rotten]
See my face, not a trace
No reality
I don't work, I just speed
That's all I need

[Bridge: Johnny Rotten]
I'm a lazy sod, I'm lazy sod
I'm a lazy sod, I'm so lazy
Yawn

[Outro: Johnny Rotten]
I'm a lazy sod, I'm lazy Sid
I'm a lazy sod, I'm so lazy
I can't even be bothered
Lazy, lazy

Genius Annotation

A song with anti-hippie sentiment. Johnny Rotten, in his book Anger is an Energy, said:

“It was very much an anti-hippie thing, drawing up the battle lines with them. ‘Let’s all live in the forest together!’ ‘Fuck off!’ Listen, I’m all for passive resistance, I understand that’s a vital way of bringing down empires, but the hippie thing of peace and love was vacuous. It didn’t actually mean anything and it was never conjured into anything solid. When I went to festivals, I’d watch them squabbling over where to park their Volkswagens and pitching their designer tents and arguing about peg holes. Come on, where’s your peace and love now?”
