Beautiful Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Beautiful, you're beautiful
As beautiful as the sun
Wonderful, you're wonderful
As wonderful as they come

[Pre-Chorus]
And I can't help but feel attached
To the feelings I can't even match

With my face pressed up to the glass
Wantin' you

[Verse 2]
Beautiful, you're beautiful
As beautiful as the sky
Wonderful, it's wonderful
To know that you're just like I

[Chorus]
And I'm sure you know me well
As I'm sure you don't
But you just can't tell
Who you'll love and who you won't, no, no
Who you'll love and who you won't

[Bridge]
And I love you, as you love me
Na na na na na na, na na na
Na na na na na na, na na na
So let the clouds roll by your face
We'll let the world spin on to another place
We'll climb the tallest tree above it all
To look down on you and me and them
[Chorus]
And I'm sure you know me well
As I'm sure you don't
But you just can't tell
Who you'll love and who you won't, no, no
Who you'll love and who you won't, no, no
Who you'll love and who you won't, no, no

[Outro]
Don't let your life wrap up around you
Don't forget to call, whenever
I'll be here just waitin' for you
I'll be under your stars forever
Neither here nor there, just right beside you
I'll be under the stairs forever
Neither here nor there, just right beside you...

About

Genius Annotation

Every band has to have that one song that has no other meaning than pure love. “Beautiful” is as simple as its title: It’s about just love. Love, in a grungy, introspective, pessimistic way, but nevertheless love.

What did The Smashing Pumpkins say about "Beautiful"?
Genius Answer

I would be remiss to make a double album
without at least a clumsy nod towards the
greatest band ever, The Beatles, who inspired
such excess in the first place. ‘Beautiful’ as
it stood had an original version that was far
darker than this one, which in hindsight
would have added more than what ended
up being wry and churlish. I do like the
simplicity of the lyric, and can see now why
Flood pushed me to strip away the artifice of
psychedelia that I insisted on lathering it up
with; revealing what would have ultimately
been a more important tune; a case where
the song gets lost in the production where
others benefitted mightily in the reverse.
