Landslide Lyrics
I took my love, and took it down
I climbed a mountain, I turned around
And I saw my reflection in a snow-covered hill
'Til the landslide brought it down
[Verse 2]
Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changin' ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life? Oh
[Chorus]
Well, I've been afraid of changin' 'cause I
Built my life around you
Time makes you bolder, even children get older
And I'm gettin' older, too
[Guitar Solo]
[Chorus]
Well, I've been afraid of changin' 'cause I've
Built my life around you
Time makes you bolder, even children get older
And I'm gettin' older, too
I'm gettin' older, too
I took my love and took it down
I climbed a mountain, I turned around
And if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hill
The landslide brought it down
The landslide brought it down
Oh
Oh
Oh
About
This is a cover of a Fleetwood Mac song which was originally written by Stevie Nicks. According to Stevie, she wrote it during a time when she did not know whether to return to study or continue recording professionally with her partner.
Notes on the recording from the liner notes of Pisces Iscariot:
Landslide is a stevie nicks song. I fell in love with this song and forced myself to learn it because i’m very bad at figuring out songs by other people. of course I learned it totally the wrong way and after it was recorded jimmy from the frogs showed me the easier way to play it. this song is very revelant to my life at the moment still, and that is why i love to sing it. LANDSLIDE – was recorded at the BBC, not my most favourite place to record. They are still in 1971 but todd the producer man was very nice. the recording is way too hissy and we’re sorry but it is the fault of the BBC, whose financial raping of us to use this song and sandoz almost didn’t make putting these songs out possible, but it is here.
In the 2012 reissue, these additional notes were added:
By the time I got around to recording this I had only 20 minutes left… I did rhythms in one take playing a solo without knowing what key the song is to the track barren with vocal. I sang two takes, listening back in the control room and summarily declaring ‘use the front half of take one and the second half of take two,’ before walking out the door… I was shocked when this song became a hit, a success not supported by a video.
