Ghost Man on Third Lyrics

[Verse 2: Adam Lazzara, John Nolan]
But whatever I have been gettin' myself into lately
Has been slicing inches from my waist

It's my face vs. the bottle (and thank god you weren't there)
And that's how bad could this hurt
Against I won't feel a thing
(And thank god you weren't there...)
I tell you all about [it] it's just not working out
(...to watch me hit bottom)
Not working out

[Chorus: Adam Lazzara, John Nolan]
It's a campaign of distraction
(Distraction)
Revisionist history, oh!
(And revisionist history)

[Post-Chorus: Adam Lazzara, John Nolan]
It's a shame I don't think that they'll notice
(It's a shame, I don't think that they'll notice)
It's a shame I doubt they even care
(It's a shame I doubt they even care)
No one is to know about this
It's a shame I don't think that they'll notice
(It's a shame, I don't think that they'll notice)
It's a shame I doubt they even care
(It's a shame, It's a shame)
No one is to know about this
Don't let me down
[Bridge: Adam Lazzara, John Nolan]
Better than
This is we why (We why)
We were taught so much better than this (So much better)
This is going anywhere (Than this)
We like to rewind (Better)
We were taught so much (So much better)
Better than, better than this (Better than this!)

[Outro: Adam Lazzara, John Nolan]
This is what livin' like this does
This is what livin' like this does
This is what livin' like this does (Like)
This is what livin' like this does (This)
This is what livin' like this does (livin' like this)
This is what livin' like this does (livin' like this)
This is what livin' like this does (livin' like this)
This is what livin' like this does (livin' like this)
This is what livin' like this does

About

Genius Annotation

This is a song about mental health, or rather, mental unwellness.
Adam Lazzara was only 19 years old when he came to New York City from North Carolina to play with Taking Back Sunday, but he had already been through his fair share of turmoil : as he mentioned on the band’s Yahoo boards in 2002, he had been suicidal since the age of 13.

An alcoholic and a drug addict who had already been in rehab at the age of 15, Lazzara relied on substances to get himself through life.
“Ghost Man On Third” is a very personal insight on his mental state at the time.
