Genius Annotation

Considered by many as one of the most powerful songs on the album, “No Hard Feelings” is a moral manifesto against hatred and against the very idea of enemies. According to Scott, “It’s the best song because it’s taken the most sacrifice to make. It’s taken the most living to make.”

It’s clear from the May It Last film that this song in particular is a very emotional song for the brothers. Upon being congratulated, Scott struggled with being congratulated for what he described as a “mining of the soul,” before ultimately reconciling that feeling by saying that he can only understand the congratulations to mean “congratulations, you’ve sacrificed deeply, and the evidence of that struggle has come out in something beautiful.”
