Genius Annotation

Boots is the fifth consecutive annual Christmas song of which all proceeds to go to the (PRODUCT)RED campaign by The Killers. Released November 30th 2010, Boots debuted at #3 on the Billboard Holiday chart, while reaching #53 on the UK Singles Chart and #79 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

The video, directed by Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite) starts with the famous scene of George Bailey (played by James Stewart) praying to God in the 1946 film ‘It’s A Wonderful Life.’ It then follows a narrative of a homeless man in a struggle to regain his old life. The protagonist is played by NYC street performer, Super Bad Brad Prowly.

It is the first release by the Las Vegas rock band to not stylize the band’s title in neon lights. Instead, ‘The Killers’ is in a font relating to the DVD release cover of Citizen Kane.

What did The Killers say about "Boots"?
Genius Answer

This is Brandon Flowers‘ favorite Killers Christmas single, he explained to NME.

I was born in the desert but I spent my formative years in Utah, where we actually had white Christmases. I got really sentimental and I feel like I was able to look back and tell you about my mother, and that’s what makes that my favorite one.
