Holly Wood Died Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Accidents out on the highway to somewhere
They tell us about when we're young
Rescuers working to clean up the crashes
Before she can see what they've done
Nobody told her she'd lose in the first round
The last fight was fixed from the start

Names on her sidewalks, they move through her body
Like razors, they cut through her heart
Like razors, they cut through her heart

[Chorus]
Hey, let go of all you know
And you're flying away now

What have you got to lose?
And say out loud these words I've found
I'll be there when you come down
I'll be waiting for you

[Verse 2]
Night life, the high life, she just wants a good life
So someone remembers her too
But somewhere she heard there was some place to go
When you die, when you live like we do
Die when you live like we do
[Chorus]
Hey, let go of all you know
And you're flying away now
What have you got to lose?
And say out loud these words I've found
I'll be there when you come down
I'll be waiting for you

[Chorus]
Hey, let go of all you know
And you're flying away now
What have you got to lose?
And say out loud these words I've found
I'll be there when you come down
I'll be waiting for you
Hey, let go of all you know
And you're flying away now
What have you got to lose?
And say out loud these words I've found
I'll be there when you come down
I'll be waiting for you

About

Genius Annotation

In continuation of the album’s storyline, the band once again brings in their fictional lead, Holly Wood, in time to kill her off.

Holly became this person on the record who appears in a lot of the songs, and at times you love her and at times you hate her. At times she’s good to you and sometimes she’s bad.“
- Ryan Key in discussion of the Holly Wood character

The song bears some musical elements from previous track “Rough Landing Holly”. The song’s finale is a full band reprise of the opening instrumental “Three Flights Up” with orchestral accompaniment, serving as an epic close to the album.

In October 2019, the band filed a lawsuit over similarities between this song and Juice WRLD’s ‘Lucid Dreams’.
