“Close Calls With Brick Walls/Mother of Mankind” is the third and fourth studio album from Andrew W.K. This double album was put together because “Close Calls With Brick Walls” and “Mother of Mankind” were made during the complicated legal battles involving Andrew W.K. and STEEV MIKE, the anonymous producer that helped create Andrew W.K.’s career.

Due to the complicated legal battles the albums weren’t able to release anywhere except Japan, where Andrew W.K. has a very large fan base. This double album was put together after Andrew W.K. and STEEV MIKE came to an agreement to have STEEV MIKE receive partial credit as a producer on all other albums but give Andrew W.K. full ownership and control over his name.
