About “Rock Spectacle”

Rock Spectacle was the first live album to be released by Barenaked Ladies. The album consists of performances from both Chicago’s Riviera Theatre, as well as The Olympia in Montreal. Both were recorded during their Born On A Pirate Ship tour. It was also the first Barenaked Ladies album to feature keyboardist Kevin Hearn (listed as The New Guy).

In addition, the album netted the Ladies' success in North America,, being their first album to go Platinum in the United States.

The album was to feature a live version of the song Shoe Box, but the band decided to omit it from the album. As a result, the band decided to keep the studio version of Shoe Box in their greatest hits album Disc One: All Their Greatest Hits. Also, if one wishes to hear the omitted live version of Shoe Box, it can be found in the CD single for One Week.
