Modern Guilt

“Modern Guilt” (released July 8, 2008) is Beck’s eighth studio album. Allmusic has called this album “an effective dosage of 21st century paranoia.”, but contrary to this positive review, Popmatters said “[Modern Guilt] lacks the unique resonating timbres one is accustomed to with Beck,”. Despite these mixed reviews, Modern Guilt was nominated for “Best Alternative Album”, for the 51st Grammy Awards.

The rhythms and tones of the album are secondary to the words. They try to express the feeling one experiences from the thought. Try to decipher the time signature of Replica, or feel the airy floating of helplessness as one stares off in to space in Chemtrails.
