Oh Mercy

Bob Dylan

About “Oh Mercy”

The songs on “Oh Mercy” are written by Bob Dylan mostly in a painting room that he arranged in his house in Malibu. After a row of disappointing albums bashed by the critics he came back with ten great songs that are concidered to be a part of the best in his reportoire.
Dylan let Bono from U2 listen to some of his composition. Bono was delighted en thought Dylan should contact Daniel Lanois whom just produced [the Joshua Tree] (

). Bono called him and handed the phone to Dylan. Lanois told him to come by in Louisiana if he ever wase in the area. A couple of weeks later Dylan visited Lanois and they agreed to make an album after he heared two covers Lanois recorded with [the Neville Brothers] (). It was exactly what Dylan was looking for: a sound coming from the deep bayou of Louisiana.
The songs on Oh Mercy contain the same poetic glow as his masterpeices from the sixties.
