About “Flamingo”

Flamingo is the 2010 debut album by Brandon Flowers, known otherwise as the lead signer of the rock outfit The Killers. It takes its name from The Flamingo, the original hotel and casino that started the town of Las Vegas. The cover photo of the album is Brandon in one of their iconic rooms.

The album is stylistically distinct from his work with the Killers, with Flowers notably focusing on his religious faith in songs such as “Crossfire” and “Only The Young”. Elsewhere he explores images of his hometown, the most prominent example coming as the title, taken from Flamingo Road in Las Vegas.

Three of the fourteen tracks were released as singles: “Crossfire”, “Only The Young” and “Jilted Lovers and Broken Hearts”.

Commercially successful but critically lukewarm, Flamingo launched a solo career for Flowers that would continue with the 2015 release of The Desired Effect.
