Covers

It’s never anything I’m looking for [choosing the material that she covers]. It’s just a song I want to sing, a song I want to hear live at that moment. There’s just too many better than my own.

The reason I don’t play a standard cover, with the notes and chords, is because I don’t fucking know what the chords are. I never know what I’m doing. I think that’s the special ingredient, the Cat Power motto. Artists shouldn’t doubt themselves. Just try it and move on.
