CeeLo Green Is Thomas Callaway

“CeeLo Green Is Thomas Callaway” is CeeLo’s 6th studio album, released in 2020. Different from everything Green brought until here, this album delivers a soulful country vibe, mixed with a golpel-driven classic rock, that somehow fits perfectly to Green’s crooner voice.

The album is a collaboration with Dan Auerbach of ‘The Black Keys’, wrote and done over a month! What started as writting sessions with Dan back in Nashville build up to be his newest project, “CeeLo Green Is Thomas Callaway”, ending CeeLo’s five years hiatus, after “Heart Blanche (2015)”, his last record to Atlantic Records.

The 2020 album was released during the pandemic, something that motivated some of the lyrics. As he puts, the times need the good vibrations, sincere songs and, most importantly, unity to a greater good.

“Basically, the 12 songs we wrote over a month. I recorded them all in two days. I sang six songs back-to-back one day and six another day. The album was done. By the time I heard it, it was mixed, mastered and ready to go. I was like, wow. It’s the easiest, most painless album I have ever done. […] ‘CeeLo Green is…Thomas Callaway’ is totally different. This is an entirely different move in space and atmosphere.”
