About “Juturna”

Juturna is the debut studio album by American rock band Circa Survive, released on April 19th, 2005 to mass critical and commercial acclaim. The album is conceptually based off of the 2004 film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, as well as being loosely based off of other various pieces of literature, film, etc. Lyrically, the album also has reoccurring topics relating to frontman and singer-songwriter Anthony Green’s psychological addiction to drugs, particularly Xanax and cocaine, with poetic yet abstract undertones.

“Juturna” Q&A

  • What have the artists said about the album?

In an interview with Noisey, Anthony Green talked a bit about the place he was in while he wrote the album:

I was such a dumb kid, just driving around, up all night, on lots of weed and Adderall. I’d gone to rehab a bunch and my parents had thought that I was keeping my shit together, when really I was just hiding it from everyone. A lot of the lyrics were written in a state of complete and total chaos. I wasn’t present. I often wonder, had I just stopped drinking, stopped doing anything other than maybe psychedelics, what would have happened to the band? I’d probably be dead, actually.
