‘E3 AF’ (the ‘AF’ being short for African) is Dizzee’s 7th studio album, due to be released on the 30th of October, which has been in the making for the ‘last 3 years’. The title pays homage to the postcode of his hometown of Bow in East London.
The album is described as being a ‘journey through Black-British musical excellence’, ‘sonically draw[ing] on the infectious pace of grime’, and ‘confirm[ing] Dizzee’s status as an artist still very much in his prime’. It is also claimed that the album is ‘the first [to wholly be] written, recorded and produced in the U.K., in over a decade’.
In an Instagram post annoucing the album, Dizzee wrote:
On October 9th I’m dropping my 7th studio album it’s called E3 AF. I’ve spent the last 3 years losing and finding myself in music and I’ve made something Flawless. I made this album for YOU!
I want you to play it at home, in your car or wherever you want but I want you to listen to it all the way through and you better have some BASS!! The link ups are mad and I didn’t come to play!! You’re welcome.
Pre orders go live this Thursday, every format.
Thank you #E3AF (e3AFrican).
