“The Lockdown Sessions” Q&A

  • What have the artists said about the album?

I suddenly thought, ‘Oh my god, I’m a session musician again,’, and it was just like, ‘You know what, I love this.’ To play on other people’s records, to hear different music and be able to fit in with someone else’s thoughts is an incredibly inspiring and moving thing to do.

They’ve all taught me something at 74 years of age. I think if that can happen in your life and you listen and learn something from these people, it’s a bonus.

  • How were the songs recorded?

Some of the recording sessions had to be done remotely, via Zoom, which I’d obviously never done before. Some of the sessions were recorded under very stringent safety regulations: working with another artist, but separated by glass screens. But all the tracks I worked on were really interesting and diverse, stuff that was completely different to anything I’m known for, stuff that took me out of my comfort zone into completely new territory.
