The fourth full-length record by Feist, Metals took a detour from the easy-listening pop sound that made The Reminder a hit and moved towards something she called “modern ancient,” mixing old and new instruments, creating more chaos, movement, and noise than one may be used to from Feist.
Metals debuted on the US Billboard 200 at number 7, and sold 38,000 copies in its first week. It earned Feist’s best sales week and it was her first top 10 chart in the US.
