Songs From Final Fantasy XV

Songs from Final Fantasy XV contains two original songs and one cover which feature on the soundtrack for video game Final Fantasy XV.

Florence Welch released a statement via Twitter about her decision to write songs for the game. She drew comparisons between “the landscape of Final Fantasy and [her] own internal landscape”, both of which are “mythical and beautiful and epic”. In the announcement trailer, Florence said she was interested in exploring video game soundtracks:

“I was listening to Classic FM and there was a whole two hour programme about classical music in video games. It’s so inspiring, that’s a whole scope of music that I didn’t know about… It was really fascinating. The music was incredibly beautiful and emotional and I took it as a sort of sign. I want to see what I can do in this medium.”

In a Gamespot interview, the game’s director, Hajime Tabata, spoke about the decision to choose Florence to soundtrack the game:

“When we were looking for an artist that had their own unique world in their own right, we wanted someone who would fit the world of Final Fantasy XV… We really felt that Florence would really flesh out the world and make it even more beautiful and bring in new fans and interest to the game.”
