Following the more harsh and aggressive sound of Insomniac, Green Day sees themselves experimenting with different genres like folk, acoustic rock and ska on Nimrod. It also begins to show more maturity not just in a instrumentation sense, but in lyrical content with lyrical themes of maturity, loneliness and even fatherhood.
The most famous single off the album is the acoustic hit “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” which has since been featured in popular culture, most famously the finale of the 90s sitcom, Seinfeld.
