Chinese Democracy

Guns N’ Roses

About “Chinese Democracy”

An album with an infamous history behind it. Guns N' Roses began to write and record new music in 1994. In the following years, everyone that recorded predecessor The Spaghetti Incident? aside from Axl and keyboardist Dizzy Reed either quit or was fired. Production per se started in 1997, only for Chinese Democracy to spend 10 years being re-recorded and polished, with expenditures of $13 million and 12 band members contributing to the record. Seeing Chinese Democracy be released in 2008 was considered, by some, akin to pigs flying or Hell freezing over.

Background aside, the album displays influence from industrial rock (one of the main instrumentalists is Nine Inch Nails guitarist Robin Finck), electronic rock, and nu-metal with lyrics still showcasing Axl’s revolt at the ugly side of the world.
