About “Unknown Pleasure”

Unknown Pleasure is an unofficial release from 2006 featuring a selection of Interpol’s rarities and live recordings, many of which would be officially released on Turn on the Bright Lights: Tenth Anniversary Edition six years later.
Its title is a reference to Joy Division’s infamous and monumental 1979 record Unknown Pleasures, a band to whom Interpol’s sound is often accredited. The compilation serves as a tribute to frontman Ian Curtis, who took his own life on 18 May 1980.
