Sing-A-Longs and Lullabies for the Film Curious George

Jack Johnson

About “Sing-A-Longs and Lullabies for the Film Curious George”

Sing-A-Longs and Lullabies for the film Curious George is the soundtrack to the 2006 animated children’s film Curious George, which was based on the children’s book series by Margret and H. A. Rey. of the same name. Rather than just being background music, Johnson’s songs were an important part of the film, narrating some scenes and giving listeners a chance to see things from George’s perspective.

Along with Jack Johnson’s guitar/ukulele playing and smooth vocals, the album featured Adam Topol on drums, Merlo Podlewski on bass, and Zach Gill on keyboard. Gill also contributed additional vocals, and Ben Harper, G. Love, Matt Costa and Kawika Kahiapo made guest appearances.

The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, a rare feat for a soundtrack, especially one to an animated film. It was certified Platinum on June 26, 2006 by the Recording Industry Association of America. Lead single “Upside Down” peaked at #38 on the Hot 100, making it Johnson’s first US top 40 hit.
